John Marshall's alumni schedule annual meeting The annual meeting of The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association will take place at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 6. Law dean appointed at Univ. of Chicago University of Chicago Law Prof. Saul Levmore has been named dean of the law school. A 1980 graduate of the Yale University Law School, he has been on the U.C. law faculty since 1998 after teaching at the University of Virginia Law School. Levmore also has held visiting professorships at the Northwestern University School of Law, Harvard Law School and Yale. His wife, Julie Roin, is a professor at the University of Chicago Law School. Richard A. Epstein had served as interim dean since the resignation in February of Daniel R. Fischel. DePaul updates study on sexual servitude A progress report on a study on the global reach and severity of sexual servitude by women and children has been released by the DePaul University International Human Rights Law Institute. "The first step in stopping the trafficking of women and children for sexual exploitation is to obtain and analyze data that more fully address the scope and nature of the problem," said IHRLI President M. Cherif Bassiouni. Findings of the study include 800,000 women and children having been sold into Thailand's sex industry since 1990, and up to 50,000 brought into the United States from Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe and sold for $12,000 to $20,000 each in the sex trade. Administrative Law Section co-sponsors ethics seminar A seminar on "Ethics and Professionalism for Government Attorneys and the Administrative Judiciary" will be conducted Friday, June 8, in the Sangamon Auditorium of the University of Illinois in Springfield. Sponsors are the Government Bar Association, the Illinois Association of Administrative Law Judges, the ISBA Administrative Law Section Council and the Committee on Government Lawyers. At 10:30 a.m., the Rules of Professional Conduct will be reviewed by Peter Rotskoff of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, who serves on the ISBA Committee on Corrections and Sentencing and the Committee on Legal Education, Admission and Competence.
