Deadlines ahead for June honors

Friday, June 27, is the date of the awards luncheon that will take place during the ISBA Annual Meeting at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in St. Louis. Deadlines already have been announced for nominations for four of the awards that will be presented.

They are the Community Leadership Award, given by the Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity; the Young Lawyers of the Year in Cook County and outside the county, and the Law Student Division Public Service Award.

For nominating forms and complete information about these honors, contact Janet Sosin, director of bar services,  mailto:jsosin@isba.org or (312) 726-8775

The deadline for the Community Leadership Award is Monday, March 31. Nominees should be individuals who by example have worked to eliminate discrimination and foster understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and legal issues that concern them.

Nominations for Young Lawyer of the Year honors must be submitted by Wednesday, April 18. ISBA members under the age of 36 are eligible.

Attributes include outstanding litigation or advocacy, counseling and pro bono work, advancement of the profession, published articles, bar association and public service activities.

The deadline for Law Student Division Public Service Award nominations also is Wednesday, April 18. One ISBA Law Student Division member from each of the 13 affiliated law schools may be nominated, and one will receive the Public Service Award.

The honor is based on extracurricular achievements, service-related activities that enhance professional responsibility, and public interest law contributions.

The honoree will be reimbursed for expenses of attending the Annual Meeting, and a $250 donation will be made in his or her name to a designated not-for-profit organization. Each finalist will receive a plaque.
