He received a law degree in 1981 from the DePaul University College of Law and was a law clerk for Evanston attorney Roosevelt Alexander before opening a solo practice and moving it to Chicago.
Mr. Delgado was vice chair of the John Howard Foundation and a board member of the American Civil Liberties Union. Kenneth Hecht Kenneth George Hecht of Glenview, a former attorney for Commonwealth Edison and Northern Illinois Gas, died July 20 in his home at age 87. A 1938 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Law, Mr. Hecht served three years on the Army Judge Advocate General staff during World War II. He had a private practice until 1953 and resumed it in Wilmette after leaving the utility companies. A past chair of the Chicago Bar Association Real Property Committee, Mr. Hecht was a docent for the Evanston Historical Society at the General Charles Dawes House. Ronald Lieberman Ronald Mark Lieberman of Morton Grove, a former assistant Cook County state's attorney, died Aug. 28 at age 53. He was a graduate of The John Marshall Law School. Although he had suffered from multiple sclerosis for 27 years, Mr. Lieberman continued his work as a prosecutor in the 2nd Municipal District Courthouse in Skokie until 10 months ago. Walter Linstedt Retired California attorney Walter G. Linstedt, formerly of Chicago, died Aug. 22 of cancer at age 66. A graduate of the Hastings College of Law in San Francisco, he worked in the law departments of the Continental Bank in Chicago and the Bank of America in California. Michael Magida Former Chicago attorney Michael David Magida died in August at age 58. He was a resident of Ukiah, Calif., where he practiced law. Byron Sayre Former Chicago attorney and investment adviser Byron J. Sayre died Aug. 20 at age 88 in Vero Beach, Fla., where he had lived since retiring 27 years ago. He was vice president and manager of the municipal bond department of Thomson, McKinnon in New York when he retired. Mr. Sayre was a past master of West Englewood Home Lodge of the A.F. & A.M., and a chair umpire and tournament referee for the U.S. Tennis Association. Lawrence Schultz Lawrence Mason Schultz of Carbondale, a 1997 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law, died in July at age 30 while visiting a friend in Milwaukee, Wis. Both bodies were found July 7 in the friend's apartment. Joseph Sikes Joseph N. Sikes of Grayslake, a past president of the Lake County Bar Association, died July 23 in his home at age 90 of congestive heart failure. A graduate of the Harvard University Law School, he was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1934 and opened an office in Waukegan. Moving his practice later to Grayslake, Mr. Sikes became a community leader and municipal attorney for the village, the fire department, and the villages of Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods and Round Lake Park. He also was attorney for the organization of the Round Lake Sanitary District, the Grayslake Community High School District and the Grayslake Park District. He retired from practice in 1991. Mr. Sikes was president of the Lake County Savings and Loan Association for 18 years, board chair of the Home Savings and Loan Association and a director of the McHenry Savings Bank. A life member of the Grayslake Historical Society, he was grand marshal for the community's centennial parade in 1955. Sam Taylor Retired Taylorville attorney Sam M. Taylor died July 22 at age 89. He was a 1935 graduate of the Lincoln College of Law in Springfield and founding president of the Taylorville Kiwanis Club. Mr. Taylor retired in 1990 from Taylor, Doyle & Fraley, formerly Coale, Taylor, Tipsword, Doyle & Fraley. Sidney Wallenstein Chicago patent lawyer Sidney Wallenstein died Aug. 8 at age 92 in a Milwaukee hospital after a heart attack in his home. He was of counsel to Wallenstein & Wagner and had been active in the firm until 1996. A 1932 graduate of the George Washington University Law School, Mr. Wallenstein was a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for three years before moving to Chicago and being admitted to the Illinois bar in 1935. At first a partner in McLaughlin & Wallenstein, he later joined Charles Spangenberg, Russell Hattis and Harry Strampel in a firm that merged in 1981 with Wagner & Aubel. previous page |
