The Illinois Bar Foundation will continue to fund charitable and educational programs that promote public understanding of the law and improve the administration of justice.

Chicago Legal Clinic, Inc., Chicago - $5,000. Salary support to provide legal services and education to the underserved and disadvantaged individuals in the Pilsen and Austin communities.

The Bakari Institute, East St. Louis - $7,500. Funding for part-time staff to train juveniles referred from the St. Clair County Juvenile Court Division in arts, music, crafts, and other activities to preserve and promote traditional cultural African-centered programs that serve as a tool to prevent and intervene with juvenile delinquency.

World Relief, Chicago - $5,000. Support for the Immigrant Legal Services program in which counselors work with immigrants on their citizenship applications, obtaining a green card, or bringing a family member in to join those legally in the United States.

Women's Crisis Center of Metro East, Belleville - $3,000. Funding to produce and distribute brochures regarding the Illinois Domestic Violence Act to victims of domestic violence.

Life Span, Chicago - $5,000. Salary support for a staff attorney to provide civil legal services to victims of domestic violence whose cases involve orders of protection, divorce, child custody, support and visitation.

Illinois YMCA Youth & Government, Galesburg - $3,750. Funding for the Judicial branch of the Youth and Government program which provides specialized training and experiences for youth attorneys by conducting trials in an actual courtroom, and then later appealing cases before a Youth Supreme Court.

C.A.R.P.L.S., Chicago - $10,000. Salary support for a part-time staff attorney for the legal assistance hotline to assist lower income individuals address their legal needs through advice, referral, or pro se instructional materials.

CASA of Franklin County, Benton - $4,000. Support for this organization which provides representation in juvenile courtroom proceedings to speak in the best interest of children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned.

Pro Bono Advocates, Chicago - $5,000. Funding to support this organization's mission by providing legal services and referrals to low-income Cook County residents who have been subjected to domestic violence.

Griffin Center/Catholic Urban Programs, East St. Louis - $6,000. Funding to establish an e-mail mentoring program for East St. Louis' proverty-stricken children, enabling them to communicate with professionals on personal problems, assistance with homework, and general guidance.

Public Interest Law Initiative, Chicago - $5,000. Salary assistance for this organization involved in efforts to increase volunteerism and pro bono activity by members of the bar.

CASA of Will County, Inc., Joliet - $3,000. Purchase training materials for volunteers who serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates, representing abused and neglected children in Will County.

Free the Children Chicago, Chicago - $500. Salary support for resource development staff to provide intense programs for at-risk children through continuous mentoring and community service programs.

Lincoln Legal Papers, Springfield - $15,000. Funding to give teachers in Illinois access to a DVD set containing over 91,000 items that document over 5,100 cases and nearly 500 non-litigation activities of Abraham Lincoln's active and varied career as a lawyer.

ISBA, Springfield - $4,000. Financial assistance to place a variety of law forms and the "Guide to Illinois Statutes of Limitations" on the web-site.

Illinois CASA, Normal - $2,500. Funding for a statewide conference, which provided training for Court Appointed Special Advocates, on how to deal effectively with the best interest of children in the juvenile court system.

Equip for Equality, Inc., Chicago - $5,000. Funding to assist this organization in advancing the human and civil rights of people with disabilities in Illinois through legal services, education, monitoring, and self-advocacy assistance.

CASA Kane County, Geneva - $3,000. General operating support for this organization which provides trained volunteers to serve as children's advocates and represents children in juvenile court in Kane County.

Family Shelter Service, Glen Ellyn - $5,000. General operating support to assist in providing short-term shelter and counseling to battered women and their children in DuPage County.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, Chicago - $3,000. Funding for expansion of one to one mentoring services, matching students from 6 schools in the Austin and Lawndale areas with volunteer mentors.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sangamon County, Springfield - $3,000. Financial support to match high school juniors and seniors as mentor with troubled K-6th grade students, providing peer mentoring for students who are at great risk to enter the juvenile justice system in Sangamon and Christian counties.

Lee/Carroll County CASA, Dixon - $6,000. Operating support to recruit, train, and monitor new advocates for abused and neglected children in the juvenile courts in Lee and Carroll counties.

Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers, Chicago - $5,000. Funding to assist in providing on-site legal services, pre-release counseling and training to women incarcerated in correctional facilities statewide.

Henry County Children's Advocacy Center, Cambridge - $5,000. Funding to train individuals conducting forensic evaluation services on alleged victims of child abuse, leading to increased potential for appropriate prosecution of alleged perpetrators.

Just The Beginning Foundation, Chicago - $4,000. Funding to create a CD-ROM and a workbook for high school students on the integration of the federal judiciary and the struggles and achievements of African-American jurists.

Lawyers' Assistance Program, Inc., Chicago - $10,000. Salary support for this organization which offers aid and assistance to Illinois judges, attorneys, law students, and their families with mental health or chemical dependency illnesses.

National Center on Poverty Law, Chicago - $500. Funding for printing manuals to assist poverty law practitioners, advocates and low-income people in understanding and navigating the welfare system in Illinois.
