Information about the Law

ISBA/IPA Media Law Handbook

Our IllinoisLawyerFinder website has hundreds of articles and pamplets on various areas of the law.

This month's articles are:

Resolving legal disputes without a court trial
Disputes happen.  Sometimes they involve a former spouse, other times a business owner, employee or neighbor.  Disputes come in all types, sizes and intensities, and can involve lengthy and expensive court battles.

Finding and working with a mediator
Sometimes for reasons of expense or to preserve a business or personal relationship, it may be desirable to resolve a dispute in a non-adversarial manner more expeditiously than permitted by court calendars.

Getting a lawyer’s help for a mediation
If you’ve been involved in litigation and it doesn’t seem to be working, it may be time to try another approach – no matter what side of the issue you’re on.

Using arbitration to resolve disputes
Arbitration, a means of resolving a dispute outside of court, typically is used because of an arbitration clause in a contract.
