7th Circuit is subject of SIU law symposium

“Inside the 7th Circuit,” a two-day symposium, will take place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23, at the Southern Illinois University School of Law, Carbondale.
The academic conference will examine the workings of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin and focus on the judges, the cases, types of opinions, and the hierarchy and constraints that influence it. Papers will be published in the SIU Law Journal.
Scheduled commentators include Senior Judge Richard D. Cudahy of the Court of Appeals, and Chief Judge David Herndon and Judge G. Patrick Murphy of the Southern District court.
Others are Barbara Hayler, a criminal justice professor at the University of Illinois-Springfield, and Karen B. Swenson, an assistant political science professor at Eastern Illinois University.
Panel moderators are Scott A. Comparato, assistant political science professor at SIU; Prof. Arthur D. Hellman of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Stephen L. Wasby, political science professor emeritus at the State University of New York-Albany.
